Making Progress - Jenny Deschenes

Making Progress is a HI-Arts mentoring and business support scheme for mid career and established makers who seek support on how to develop their work, and who will welcome critical and practical advice.

Each maker will be assessed individually and we will work with them to develop a programme that reflects their aspirations, be it exhibition work, developing a product range or achieving a place at a top retail show.

Jenny Deschenes is a textile designer who lives and works in Lochaber specialising in hand screen printing and embroidery.

She uses vintage fabrics as she has always loved the idea of ‘making do’ and of passing on history. Her collections involve the re-working of such fabrics and ephemera and due to their origin and the rarity of the fabrics each piece is unique.

Drawing is an important part of Jenny’s work, which she interprets into her designs. Principally inspired by being a Shetlander, her drawing come from things she remembers from her childhood.

Jenny is currently working on a website, and can be contacted by email on jenirfeen@hotmail.com
