Professional Groups

The Highlands and Islands of Scotland are home to a remarkable number of visual arts and craft groups and networks.

Given the geography of the region, and distance from major centres of population, many professional artists and makers have found that jointly promoting their work assists in reaching wider audiences and new markets.

The group model can also promote a collective ethic within its membership, whether showcasing unique local traditions or jointly exploring new territories in contemporary art and design.
