Aberdeen Bands hit the North Star
13 July 2004

Two up-and-coming Aberdeen based bands will headline Lerwick’s North Star on Friday the 16th July in the first of a series of unlicensed gigs, open to all age groups.

10 Easy Wishes have been making quite a name for themselves recently through their explosive live shows which are described as “combining driving pop anthems with surf and punk to create a raw, abrasive, energetic rock n’ roll explosion like no other…..”

The band have already toured all over the UK and have just returned from dates in Europe. They have also just released their mini LP entitled “It’s a Disaster”.

‘The Session’ are fairly new to the blossoming Aberdeen rock scene, but have been making quite an impact in top city venues such as Café Drummonds and Dr Drakes. Their sound is described as “a cross between Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Grateful Dead” – make of that what you will.

The two visiting bands will be joined by three Shetland groups including Jezebel and Bitumen River.

If anyone from outside Lerwick would like to attend these gigs, they are advised to get in touch with their Community Youth Workers who will arrange transport to and from the gig for them.

The gig is being organised by Shetland Arts Trust in conjunction with the North Star, Lerwick. Doors open at 7, with the gig kicking off at 7.30 and running till late. Tickets are priced £5 on the door, which includes transport if required.

Shetland Arts Trust Music Development Officer Davie Gardner said “These are two very exciting bands and with the gig being open to all age groups, it would be great to pack in a good young crowd for what will be a night of blistering music. It’s even better that we’re able to do it in a great rock music venue like the North Star, which will help generate even more of an electric atmosphere on the night”.
