An evening of film and music celebrating the return of white-tailed eagles to Scotland on Tuesday 4 May at Eden Court Theatre, Bishops Road, Inverness.
Enjoy a special performance of Gaelic music, images and song celebrating the close affinity of the Gael and the natural environment. A unique performance by Arthur Cormack, Ingrid Henderson and Mary Ann Kennedy will accompany the photography of Cailean Maclean in the first half of the programme.
This will be followed by the the premiere of an RSPB film The Eagle Odyssey which took over three years to make, and features spectacular footage of sea eagles. It tells the remarkable story of this stunning bird, its habits and behaviour and reveals how its close relationship with man has proved a mixed, but ultimately successful, association.
The white-tailed eagle (also known as the sea eagle) is the UK's largest bird of prey, inspiring awe and wonder in those lucky enough to see it. Sea eagles were persecuted to extinction in Scotland during the Victorian era, but they have been reintroduced to the west Highlands and Islands. Gradually, sea eagles have re-established themselves in their own haunts, but with only 31 breeding pairs and an almost mystic ability to conceal their presence, they are rarely seen.
The Eagle Odyssey at Eden Court Theatre on 4 May at 19.30hrs. Tickets £10 (£8 conc) from Box office on 01463 234234.
