Access for All – A Seminar on Special Needs
Access for All – A Seminar on Special Needs
03 August 2004

Fèisean nan Gàidheal, in partnership with Inverness TMC and Ceòl Beò, are organising a seminar entitled "Access for All – Seminar on Special Needs" to be held on 21 August 2004 at Inverness.

This interactive seminar is designed to enable participants to explore the implications of inclusion and anti-discriminatory legislation for those organisations, groups and individuals who offer experiential programmes and tuition in traditional music.  During the seminar delegates will consider some of the challenges and opportunities associated with developing policies, strategies and programmes that seek to plan for the inclusion and participation of children and young people with additional support needs.  There will be opportunities to consider the perspectives of people with additional support needs and to share experience.

In the final session of the seminar delegates will have an opportunity to draw up a draft action plan for their group or organisation.  This will identify specific next steps and the arrangements required to enhance the capacity of the group or organisation to respond to the challenge of inclusion.  The seminar will be led by Professor Donnie Murdo MacLeod, traditional Gaelic singer and Director of the Centre for Inclusion and Equity in Education. (CIEE).

"Access for All" will be held on 21 August at Culloden Community Complex, Inverness, from  10am – 2pm with registration from 9.30am. Cost is £25 (Concessions and assistance available).
