A series of workshops in song arrangement, performance and recording is currently underway at The Place in Alness as part of the Scottish Arts Council and Highlands & Islands Enterprise Social Inclusion Partnership programme. The five workshops, aimed at giving young people an opportunity to develop their own music and learn new skills, are run by professionals from the music industry with assistance from members of Highland bands including La Cova, Dionysus, Low Tide Reverie and Shall.
HI~Arts has been working at The Place already this year with a band rehearsal facility and training sessions, and looks forward to seeing an emergence of new talent from the area. The professional guidance of Jim Hunter, Andy Thorburn, Terry Small and Nigel Sleaford over the next few weeks looks set to consolidate the progress so far and will be a unique opportunity to get the best advice from some of the country’s top performers and sound engineers.
Workshops run at The Place, High Street, Alness. Spaces will be limited - to find out more contact Sofie Jonsson on 07787 846588, or e mail sofiejonsson@lineone.net.
