Over six weeks, beginning on 6 September 2004, Scotland’s National Theatre ‘for & by’ young people will visit 88 schools, youth & community groups nationwide. The company will run workshops for over 3,500 young people and aims to reach every postal code area in Scotland. Up to 40 young people from each venue will take part in a drama workshop and learn about theatre arts opportunities locally and nationally.
At each venue the roadshow will provide taster workshops and give information to young people about getting involved in theatre. Advice will be given on applying for Summer Festival 2005 and other courses run by Scottish Youth Theatre. Scottish Youth Theatre tutors will also provide tips on fundraising for tuition fees and other expenses.
The workshops will last 60 minutes and are offered free of charge to schools, youth theatres and community groups. It is a fun introduction to drama and all young people are eligible regardless of previous experience.
