Dionyssus appearing at goHI showcase
Dionyssus appearing at goHI showcase
08 September 2004

Dionyssus will be headlining at Bar Q, Inverness, on the 10th September for the opening night of this years goHI showcase event.

In only the 2nd year of their short career, Dionyssus have shown they are far more than just the local up-and-coming band.  In June of this year they reached the highly prestigious Emergenza Scottish final, at the Carling Academy in Glasgow, where they played to a crowd of 2500 people, including a host of music label scouts, and earned a highly regarded 3rd place.  An official scouting agency for Columbia/Sony, and in collaboration with all the major manufacturers, Emergenza is the biggest music contest across Europe and America.

Fresh from recording their new cd “RAM IT!” (of which the opening track ‘Freestyle’ won a finalists place in the UK Songwriting competition) the black-isle rock outfit have performed at a host of events including the Go North showcase in Aberdeen, the Highland Festival, the Black Isle show and the 1st ever Tartan Heart Festival at Belladrum.  The latter two being the largest single day events of their kind in Scotland with combined audiences exceeding 3000 people.

“Sunday night’s Emergenza gig proved that people dance when these boys play simply because they’re good. Well, actually, it’s more complicated than good – there’s a whole bunch of other factors including terrific stage presence and irresistible energy that compel the crowd to jig and holler.” - Catriona Paul, HI~Arts Review, May 2004
