Stacey Earle and Mark Stuart, widely recognised as one of the USA’s leading Americana / country duo’s, are due to perform a one-off Lerwick date as part of their current UK and European tour.
Stacey, sister of country legend Steve Earle, was a major solo artist in her own right, recording acclaimed albums such as ‘Dancin’ With Them That Brung Me’, before recently teaming up with husband Mark as a duo. She has also performed backing vocals on several of Steve Earle’s albums, such as The Hard Way, and on a number of his world tours.
Mark had also been a successful solo artist and a guitarist, most notably with Steve Earle’s band ‘The Dukes’, and his guitar work is now cited as being positively essential to the whole cloth of the duo’s music.
Although they married back in 1993 they only came together as a musical duo in 2001, recording highly acclaimed albums such as Must Be Live and their most recent CD Never Gonna Let You Go, which received rave reviews in many international music magazines following its release last year.
Shetland Arts Trust Music Development Officer Davie Gardner said “It’s brilliant to be able to secure gigs of this stature and quality in Shetland, and especially good that we can put them on in smaller venues where the audience can feel a real part of the event. Anyone who likes music of any kind, especially with an Americana leaning, will really enjoy this gig.”
The concert will take place in the British Legion, Lerwick on Wednesday 29th September at 9pm (doors open 8.30). Support will be provided by local singer / songwriter Ellie Mulhern who has recently been attracting a great deal of national attention. She will be joined by her brother Andrew on guitar and backing vocals.
Tickets priced £10 go on sale on Friday the 17th September at 10am from Royal British Legion and High Level Music, Lerwick.
