Pitlochry Festival Theatre is delighted to announce the programme for its second Winter Season.
The success of the first winter season showed how PFT’s high quality programme could attract and entertain audiences from all over Scotland and beyond, even in the depths of winter. And this year, there’s even more to make you forget about the wind and the wet outside.
Like a warming Highland malt, the new winter season offers a rich blend of flavours to savour, from the distinctive music of Dougie MacLean, to the mesmeric energy of Scottish Dance Theatre, to the classical mastery of Concerto Caledonia. The words of George McKay Brown are celebrated in For the Islands I Sing, Tchaikovsky’s immortal Sleeping Beauty is brought radiantly to life by Moscow City Ballet, while in the London Operetta Company’s The Pirates of Penzance – From Scratch, audience participation is compulsory! Not forgetting Sheena Wellington, of course, or the Viennese Strauss Gala, The Sinatra Years, the Nikki King Duo, The Scottish Ensemble, Fraser Anderson . . .
Halloween features a Ghosties in the Garden tour (if you dare!), whilst late January ushers in our newest event: the Winter Words Festival, a programme of literary lunches, Meet the Author sessions, Page to Stage events, readings, workshops and a book fair – what better way to banish those post-Hogmanay blues? At Easter, we play host to the Scottish Puppet Animation Festival, with magical shows from the most inventive puppeteers in Europe.
For those who prefer a more a ‘hands on’ approach, there is even greater diversity in this year’s workshops and Master Classes: traditional music, visual arts, craftwork, creative writing, all are catered for in our popular Active Arts programme.
Winters will never be the same again!
