Shetland to feature on Promotional Music CD
Shetland to feature on Promotional Music CD
06 October 2004

Shetland musicians of all persuasions are being invited to submit tracks for possible inclusion on a compilation CD which is aimed at promoting music from across the Highlands and Islands.

The CD is being produced as part of a wider music industry project called ‘Make Tracks’ an initiative supported by Channel 4 Television, and will incorporate all kinds of music from rock to traditional and everything in between.

When complete the CD will not only be available on a commercial basis, it will also widely distributed, free off charge, on the cover of ‘Music Week’, the international music industry’s ‘bible’.

Shetland Arts Trust Music Development Officer Davie Gardner said “This is a great opportunity for one, or hopefully more, Shetland groups, or musicians to have their music promoted in a high profile fashion and get themselves noticed within the industry and in the international market place. The ‘Make Tracks’ project is an exciting initiative that will attract national and international attention due to the fact that Channel 4 are behind it. It may also lead to the production of a short television feature on the music of the Highlands and Islands, so it’s good news that we have been asked to become involved.”

Those interested in submitting a track, or tracks, for possible inclusion on the Make Tracks CD should forward them to Davie Gardner at Shetland Arts Trust, Pitt Lane, Lerwick before Tuesday 12th October.

For further information please contact Davie Gardner on (01595) 697550.
