After taking some time out to work on various projects, Susanna Wolfe, female singer/ songwriter with the very big voice is performing live at Oscars, Dingwall on 18 December 2004.
Susanna will be performing a mass of new material, accompanied by Alasdair Wright, a singer songwriter from the west coast. This will be an intimate semi acoustic evening with songs to draw you in and wring out your soul as well as songs to make you smile!
Susanna (who is of Irish descent) moved up to Scotland six years ago for a dramatic life style change. One of the countries noted session vocalists, Susanna has used her time in the Highlands to write her own material, which she will be performing in her own unique way at Oscars. Susanna’s voice has been compared to a cross between Pat Bennetar, Patti Smith and Janis Joplin so don’t expect cute girlie vocals!
As once said in Melody Maker “ When she rocks, She rocks Hard, but always leaves room for a little soul.”
One of the projects Susanna has been involved with is Species 8472, Species 8472 is the brainwave of Alsdair and his Wife Claire O’Brien.
Species 8472 is not a band. It's an Internet-based project Species 8472 is a loose collaboration of musicians from all over the Highlands and beyond. Like Bristol’s Massive Attack and LA’s Desert Sessions Band, like the Star Trek creature whose name it borrows, it’s a shapeshifting beast which comes at you from everywhere at once.
Founded and directed by musicians in the Scottish Highlands, Species 8472 constantly adapts, reaching out and involving musicians and artists from elsewhere and using the Internet to communicate, write and record. Participants are of all ages and ancestries, both genders but a common language – music. Species 8472 exists to write, perform and record original music with a smattering of inventive covers.
