A new partnership between the Scottish Arts Council’s Visual Arts Department and the University of Abertay Dundee (UAD) has enabled a New Media Residency opportunity for a visual artist resident in Scotland with a £5,000 bursary from the Scottish Arts Council.
The Residency will run for a minimum 4-month period from March 2005. Located in Whitespace, the Computer Arts integrated learning and research environment in the School of Computing and Creative Technologies the artist will have access to:

Dedicated accommodation and communications services

A range of hardware, software, and technological support for digital media production
-
Studio accommodation
-
UAD facilities, library and student centre
-
UAD student centre digital media gallery for exhibition

Academic and research community in the School

The broader UAD community including professional and industrial partners and stakeholders
The resident artist will be expected to:

Undertake an identified process of personal and professional development over the course of the residency

Be actively involved in their project within the UAD environment

Seek to publish/exhibit work generated

Be accessible to students of the BA Hons Computer Arts Programme

Make presentations to research staff and students about the nature and objectives of the residency.

Some £5,000 awards are available in the January round, one £5,000 award is allocated to this Residency opportunity. Important
Artists are expected to have a visual arts practice using new media and a strong track record. The bursary is an investment in the development of future work and will be awarded on the basis of the quality of the work, quality of the proposal, and level of ambition.
Artists will be expected to demonstrate in the application the potential impact of such a residency opportunity on their creative and professional development.
