Keith Chaos Live music festival
Keith Chaos Live music festival
20 December 2004

On the 18th June 2005 8,000 music fans will converge in a park near Highland town Keith for what is hoped will be the inaugural 'Keith Chaos Live' Festival. Keith Chaos, is a charity festival organised by local Keith man Steven Purves. The festival is a charity event to benefit the local Keith Cancer Link Charity.

The event will open with local acts such as Mind Gone Blind, Blue Gum Ears, The Method, Bullit Theory, Bigfoot, there are bands from Aberdeen such as Eskimo Blonde and Jo McCafferty. The event will also see the live debut of Aberdeen recording band Baby Karma. Towards the end of the day Keith Chaos will host some more established UK Bands including the John Young Band (a supergroup made up musicians who have played with Fish, The Scorpions, Paul Rodgers, Bonnie Tyler, Howard Jones and even Sclub7). We have approached many major UK acts and should be confirming a full bill at the beginning of next year.

The tickets for the event cost £20 for the whole day and there will be a bar and recreation facilities within the field as well as the ability to come and go.

The gig falls a month after the 21th anniversary of the Keith Cancer Link. They are a registered charity run on a voluntary basis. Their aims and objectives are to help the people of Keith and District who are affected by cancer and cancer related illnesses, families, carers and relatives with help, support, assistance, information and education.

Mr Purves lost his father-in-law to cancer; and his mother-in-law had cancer surgery and all the time Keith Cancer Link was there. They took them to appointments in Aberdeen, arranged to take fellow sufferers on the Keith to Dufftown railway and were always available for a chat and a sympathetic ear. After the loss of Eddie Milne the whole Milne clan have tried to in some way repay the help received from K.C.L and it is this that drives this gig forward. Most people are touched by the scourge of cancer or know somebody who has and if this event can help support groups like K.C.L then it's a worthwhile venture.
