Highland Band to Build on Success
26 January 2005

Following a very successful 2004, dionyssus plan to repeat their efforts for 2005.

Last year saw the band compete against over 170 bands from across Scotland to earn a highly respected 3rd place at the Sony/Columbia endorsed Emergenza battle of the bands at the Carling Academy, Glasgow. In addition to this they earned themselves a place at the 1st ever Tartan Hearts Festival, a place at the Black Isle Show for the 2nd year in a row, several showcase performances to panels of music industry professionals and record companies,
and for the 2nd year running they won a finalists place in the UK Songwriting Contest, this thime with their last EP, 'Ram It!'. The UK Songwriting Contest is a highly prestigious contest which is judged by the BRIT trust aswell as other highly respected industry professionals. They were also privileged to open the ICA awards ceremony and most recently have been included in the HUBL compilation CD.

Eager to continue and extend on last years' success, dionyssus have already begun their gameplan. Friday 4th February will see the band share the bill at Eden Court with the Grim Northern Social. This will be the 3rd time that dionyssus have shared the bill with the GNS within a year. The following Friday, 11th February, the black Isle band will take to the Isle of Skye to record their new EP. After working with the very talented Terry Small during the recording of 3rd EP 'RAM IT!' the band are delighted to have Terry onboard again to produce the new cd. The studio has just been re-opened after being refurbished and other than latest Scottish star MILO, dionyssus will be the 1st act to record at the studio. The EP could be a double A-side and may even feature a couple of live tracks. Further South, dionyssus will be playing with Dundee based band The Rise at their home city on February 22nd and a Glasgow date is soon to be added for the pair. Dionyssus are also awaiting confirmation of the rescheduled gig with fellow Black Islers RAAR at King Tuts in Glasgow. This should have been 3rd February but had to be put back due to a clash with the Megadeth gig the same evening. South of the border is a new target for dionyssus this year with showcase gigs planned for Birmingham, Manchester and London with the possibility of working in a small UK tour before the summer.

At present a brand new website is being designed but it should be ready within the next few weeks.  You can send messages to dionyssus at dionyssus_2004@hotmail.com. Finally, in response to the tsunami appeal dionyssus would like to donate £1 of every cd sold towards the relief efforts. Cds can be purchased through contacting the band at their email address or simply buy one at any of their gigs.
