Get a mentor and learn the ropes of video production.
IDEASFACTORY Scotland has teamed up with TV production companies in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow to offer new filmmakers a foot in the door of the TV and film industry. If you're itching to get behind a camera and need a hand to help you kick start your TV career, this could be the opportunity for you.
They are looking for four new or emerging filmmakers to take part in their video profiles mentoring project.
If chosen to take part, you will be paired up with a fully trained producer at an independent production company, who will guide you through the process of making two five–minute video profiles of young creatives in your city.
In Aberdeen, Adam Proctor from Peacock Visual Arts will be the mentor. In Dundee, it'll be Turan Ali from Bona Broadcasting, in Edinburgh, David Barras and Juliet Rees from Strange Boat Productions, and in Glasgow it will be Steven Dick and Alan Miller from Sumo Media.
Once you've chosen and agreed on your subjects you'll research, plan, shoot and edit the video profiles from start to finish. Throughout this process, your mentor will be on hand to give you as much advice, support and training as you need to complete your two profiles.
And your mentor's role doesn't stop there – after you've finished the profiles, your mentor will keep in touch and offer you one–to–one mentoring sessions to keep you on the right track.
Go for it
