On Saturday 19th March Ardross Community Hall will be hosting a day of musical and dance activities dipping into the orient and beyond and culminating in a vibrant and exciting live evening performance by Nomad’iqa.
Nomad’iqa are a four piece ethnic fusion band based in Glasgow and Edinburgh who weave instruments with electronic ambiences, loops, and samples, as they draw inspiration from the haunting melodies and driving rhythms of the Near and Middle East. The band features Maren Lueg on wind instruments, Max MacLeod on ethnic percussion, Dj Kemal on electronic samples and loops with backing percussion, and Lisa Petticrew on violin.
For those who like to dance to the beat, local dancer Shamska (Caroline Bury, Moray) will be teaching oriental belly dance from 1pm – 3pm and then from 3.30pm – 5.30pm Max MacLeod will be teaching an ethnic percussion workshop covering rhythms from Egypt to Morocco.
Both workshops cost £5 and are open to everyone so no previous experience is necessary. Anyone coming along to either workshop is entitled to £1 discount on their ticket for the evening show.
The finale starts at 8pm and tickets cost £6 (£5 for workshop participants) so why not bring along a bottle of wine and enjoy the ethnic fusion and arabesque beats?
Places on the workshops and tickets for the evening performance should be booked in advance. Ardross Hall now offers an advance on-line booking service so you can for the first time book tickets on-line by visiting www.thebooth.co.uk or by telephoning 01349 880591.
