The Art of Regeneration is an event for those who are interested in developing a stronger relationship between the arts and regeneration. It will take place at the Columba Hotel, Ness Walk, Inverness on Monday 16 May, from 10 am to 4 pm. It is free of charge and lunch will be provided.
Whether you want to find out more about how to engage with artists, or you already work with arts agencies but want to develop a more planned relationship, this seminar offers some principles, examples, and a great deal of practical advice.
Following the Arts and Communities Association Scotland's biannual conference on Cultural Planning, November 2004, this event is the second of two commissioned by the Arts and Communities Connector project. It is funded by Communities Scotland’s Scottish Centre for Regeneration and organised by the Centre for Cultural Policy Research, University of Glasgow. The event is specifically targeted at those working in areas relating to community development, housing, regeneration, health, jobs, crime, anti-social behaviour and the environment, with local authorities, local enterprise companies, health boards, local rural partnerships, the private sector and the voluntary sector.
The event will begin with presentations on some of the principles and thinking behind arts projects and regeneration and you will then get an opportunity to hear about two projects. There will also be an opportunity to discuss some of the practical issues surrounding this area of work and how to develop strong relationships which can deliver some exciting and effective regeneration approaches.
