A new internet television service is being launched in Aberdeen later this year – presenting young people with a prime opportunity to gain hands-on broadcasting experience.
Peacock Visual Arts is launching 360TV in September to provide a combination of original programming development and industry-level training.
The contemporary visual arts organisation is now on the lookout for enthusiasts aged 15 and over to develop, produce and present a diverse range of programmes.
Participants will learn to research, film, edit and present whilst honing their skills in preparation for regular live broadcasts.
360TV will use the ‘Superchannel’ – a network of internet TV channels used by people and communities as a discussion forum and presentation medium - to host the broadcasts.
Peacock Director Lindsay Gordon said: “The prime aim of our project is to help and encourage participants to generate a rich and original range of programming. It will deliver industry-level training and a valuable live studio experience, combined with a prime opportunity to question and challenge conventional broadcasting methods.
“People will be able to take part in a variety of ways – as interviewees, audience members or participants in the development, creation and delivery of broadcasts.”
During live productions viewers will be able to communicate directly through a chat window with the producer, the production crew and with the other viewers, exchanging views and influencing the shape of the show as it is broadcast.
All productions are archived on the Superchannel website so viewers can continue to watch and discuss them.
This project is funded by Scottish Screen and Aberdeen City Council.
