Mastering Interpretation - launch of new MSc course
Mastering Interpretation - launch of new MSc course
03 June 2005

UHI Millennium Institute has launched a new MSc course in Interpretation: Management and Practice and they are pleased to announce that they are accepting applications for the first intake in September 2005.

European funding has helped UHI to develop the master’s course which will comprise four core modules, four options and a dissertation. The timescale for completing the course will be flexible and there will also be opportunities to follow CPD, postgraduate certificate or diploma routes for those who don’t want to take the full master’s degree.

The course is led by Helena Bell, Perth College, who has been working in collaboration with colleagues from UHI partners as well as industry organisations and consultants during the development phase. These agencies include all those with a direct interest in interpretation, such as Forestry Commission Scotland, HI~Arts, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Historic Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage and The National Trust for Scotland.

The degree course follows full academic disciplines and is aimed at both graduates and those with a practical involvement in managing or providing interpretation, who wish to strengthen their understanding of its philosophy, principles and planning and implementation issues in diverse contexts.

Students will be able to register on a full- or part-time basis for this new and innovative master’s that will be taught following an online flexible distance learning format. UHI are very pleased to announce that they have secured a number of funded places (fees only) for full-time students and they invite all those intending to study full-time to apply. The funded places will be awarded subject to competition. Please contact either Tomas Nilsson or Helena Bell (see below) to request an information and application pack.
