Laura Scott is casting a new TV series of the Katie Morag books by Mairi Hedderwick. Set on the Isle of Coll, these well-loved children’s books describe the country life and island adventures of young Katie Morag McColl and her family. Filming will take place Spring/Summer 2006 probably on the Isle of Lewis.

They are looking to find a freckled, red-haired feisty little girl aged 8 - 9 years to play the lead (should be 9 years’ old by start of filming). This girl ideally should be from the Highlands or from the Western or Southern Isles.

Previous drama experience would be an advantage but, most importantly, this young girl must be bright, charismatic and confident in front of a camera.

Please note that as this character is so immediately recognisable by her red hair and freckles we are unable to consider girls who do not conform to this specific physical type.

Any further suggestions as to where they can look to find this young girl would be hugely gratefully received as they want to spread the net as wide as possible across the Scottish Isles and Highlands for what is a great opportunity for a charismatic red-haired youngster.
