An exhibition of new paintings by Sally Carlaw will be on show at Tobermory Art on the Isle of Mull from 2-31st August 2005.
This collection of paintings is a creative reaction of reverence to and celebration of nature. Explosively colourful images, a fresh and vital vision of bold design elements infused with sensitive observational drawing skills that capture the wonder and magic of the world as seen by Sally Carlaw. Revel in the wonder and beauty of life reflected in her optimistic and delightful images.
This contemporary Scottish Colourist has had many successful solo shows both here in the UK and abroad. Her work follows in the vein of the Scottish Colourists, with an emphasise on fine draughtsmanship. Earlier this year she won and completed a commission for a series of large oil paintings for a public building in New York.
Born in Glasgow, currently living in New York. Sally Carlaw studied drawing and painting at Glasgow School of Art, graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art.
Sally lived on Iona and Mull in the mid eighties, working initially for the Iona Community and later at Innemore Painting School, Carsaig.
