Theatre Laboratory on Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream

A Theatre Laboratory on William Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream will take place during the month of September 2005 in The Moray Music Centre, Elgin.

Run by Charioteer Theatre this laboratory is open to anyone above 17 years of age with a basic knowledge of drama and a real interest in deepening his/her acting experience.

A laboratory is a form of work that actors use to access and engage with the acting process using movement and improvisation techniques based on the text.

Every participant will receive tuition according to his/her skills.

Participants will focus on selected parts of the play “Midsummer Night’s Dream” where they will study:

  • Text analysis and dramaturgy: how an actor approaches the text and then analyses it
  • How to build a character
  • Creative expression within verses
  • Interpretation in Shakespeare
  • Structure and technique in dialogue

There will be opportunities to work individually and in groups, focusing on specific needs.

The course will take place at The Moray Music Centre, Francis Place, Elgin. Train and bus station within walking distance. Maps available on request.

The course will take place between 2nd - 11th September 2005 - 2nd : 7.30pm – 10pm; 3rd – 4th : 10am – 6pm;
5th – 9th : 2pm – 7pm; 10th – 11th : 10am – 6pm

ABOUT THE TEACHER

Laura Pasetti has been performing on many European stages since 1987 working with international directors such as Giorgio Strehler, Robert Wilson and Anatoli Vassiliev. She teaches acting professionally in universities and acting schools sharing her passion for theatre with her students. She was on stage May 2005 with ‘The Piccolo Theatre’ of Milan playing the role of Louise in “The Storm” by Strindberg and in October she will tour with the same play.

ABOUT CHARIOTEER THEATRE

Charioteer Theatre was founded in 2004. It aims to work on the Classics and to create opportunities for actors to develop their creativity and improve their skills by focusing on the acting process.
We offer workshops, training and master classes.


COST

Participants: £80
Silent Observer: £20 for the course or £5 per day (Mon to Fri), £7 (Sat or Sun)
