This August the National Galleries of Scotland's Education Department will present an exhibition at Duff House Country Gallery, Banffshire. The exhibition entitled Viewpoint explores the themes of still life and the natural environment, while examining the different viewpoints presented by artists such as S. J. Peploe, Joan Eardley and Anne Redpath.
This exhibition includes a selection of key works from the national collection that have been brought to the North East with the aim of encouraging new audiences. Access to art workshops and interpretative material for local school groups and their teachers will also be provided.
In looking at still life and the natural environment Viewpoint explores the different ways that artists have represented the world around them. The viewer is asked to consider where the artists are located in relation to the place or objects represented and to explore the identity, character, associations, memories or desires presented within their work.
