HUBL (Highlands Ultimate Band List) is putting on a summer promotional gig for the HUBL Compilation CD that was launched earlier in the year.
The gig will be held at The Eastgrange Loft, Forres on August 20th starting around 9 pm and features 6 bands performing live with entry only £5!
3 of the bands are featured on the CD :
Spindrift - returning to The Loft fresh from playing at the Euskal Internazionala Musika Festival on the Northern edge of Spain and a packed A & R showcase as part of the Tartan Heart Festival Fringe, the band submitted an exclusive version of "Hollywood Hold On" as Track no.9 of the CD.
Blue Gum Ears - the Keith trio who have played Festivals such as Gig on the Green & Keith Chaos and also toured the country as part of the Channel 4 Make Tracks project, submitted "Paracetamol" as Track no. 2.
The Method - recently voted second by the Scottish public as part of Tom Morton's Critical Choice held on BBC Radio Scotland and one of the highlights of the Grass Roots stage at the Tartan Heart Festival leaving a packed tent begging for more.
The group submitted "Summersun" as Track no. 4 of the CD and will be opening the night with a special acoustic set.
HUBL is always trying to encourage up & coming talent so the bill will feature 3 top acts that are tipped to be featured on the follow up CD :
Stereoglo - the winners of the recent PULSE contest a "Talent Trawl throughout the Highlands" that was put on by the Tartan Heart Festival in association with HUBL, Hi-Arts and Hootanannys, Stereoglo was also recently described as "Scotland's best kept secret" by the Daily Record.
The Phoenix Band - have only been together for a short time, their first gig was at the Keith Chaos Festival and they where the winners of Forres PULSE heat (their second gig) a night that literally had people dancing in the rafters.
The Beard - have had a strange existence since forming with contract signings; supporting touring bands; showcasing for Parlophone, publishers etc, but all The Beard wanted was to record an album. Towards the end of the 2004, "Rock ‘n’ Roll and the Movie They Could Make" was complete, recorded and mixed in their Elgin flat. They have been playing showcase dates for the album around the North of Scotland since then.
