Dynamic Women – Women in Creative Industries
Sat 10th September 2005 The Royal Highland Hotel, Inverness, 12.30 – 2.30pm

GoHi present an afternoon of opportunity for everyone in the creative industries - Meet, Talk, Share, Learn!

The launch of a ‘network for women in the creative industries’
This 2 hour case study workshop examines the journey of the six female panelists who work in the creative industries. Getting into the business, competing in the business, the pro’s and con’s and sharing ideas and good practice. Join the network, do some business!

Who should attend?
Women who work in the creative industries or women looking to have a career in this sector, it might include artists, writers, musicians, photographers, programme makers, DJ’s, managers, promoters, designers, educationalists, journalists, presenters, producers etc.

The Panelists

Jo Hilditch – City College Manchester
Jo is a Music Industry Consultant (New Deal for Musicians), and is a highly regarded artist/writer – ‘Hilda’, PR consultant and supervisor for the Entertainment Network for Women

Helen Searle – Searle Solicitors
The firm represents a large number of successful international artists, as well as independent record companies, publishers and distributors. The recent explosion in brand exploitation, sponsorship and e-commerce has led to much new work. Current clients in the news include Jamiroquai, Sonique, Moby, Chumbawamba and Finley Quaye.

Elena Corchero – Freelance designer
Worked in fashion design in her native Spain as well as in Germany and London. Elena then combined her interests in technology and web design, with fashion design, becoming a researcher at Medialab Europe in Dublin, where she specialised in ‘smart’ textiles.

Margaret Chrystal – Highland News
Margaret is a well known local journalist who reports on arts and entertainment in the area. She is highly regarded for her support of a wide range of new talent in the Highlands and Islands.

Dawnne McGeachy – IDEASMART
Dawnne currently manages Ideasmart, an entrepreneurial scheme designed to support new ideas through early stage investment, helping to bring the ideas towards market readiness. Talented artist in her own right, Dawnne has worked for The Lighthouse, the Glasgow based centre for architecture and design, for five years.

Lucy Conway – CHANNEL 4 IDEASfactory
Lucy’s varied career began in stage management. Since then her career path has led to a variety of roles in arts management, a lengthy spell in fund raising and sponsorship, including working with Arts and Business, and finally as a resident of the island of Eigg, Lucy has become Channel 4’s most remote employee!
