Ardross is only Highland date for Magnetic North's tour
15 September 2005

Magnetic North presents My Old Man, a new play by Tom McGrath, at Ardross Hall on 15th October 2005.

This autumn, Magnetic North tours My Old Man by Tom McGrath, a new play that deals openly and honestly with the subject of getting older and confronting the past.

Sam Macreadie has been away for many years, playing in bands on cruise ships. Now he’s in hospital in Glasgow, reunited with a family he hardly knows: daughter Rhona and grandson Neil. Their story draws together the past and the future in a moving, funny and sometimes dark new play by one of Scotland’s most influential and innovative writers.

My Old Man opens at the Tron on 23rd September, and stars Irish actor Frank Kelly, best known as foul-mouthed Father Jack  in Father Ted. Nicholas Bone’s production also features Scottish favourite Anne-Marie Timoney, and Alan Tripney and David Ireland, two of Scotland’s most exciting young actors.

Tom McGrath has been recognised as one of Scotland’s most important and singular voices since his first play Laurel and Hardy was performed in 1976. My Old Man will be Tom’s first new play in 5 years, and marks his return to Scottish theatre following a period of illness.

This is Magnetic North’s first time visiting Ardross.

May Old Man, 15th October at 8pm at Ardross Hall, Tickets £6/£4, Box Office: 01349 880 591 www.thebooth.co.uk
