New Download Site for Scotland to be Launched
New Download Site for Scotland to be Launched
07 October 2005

A new Highland based music web-site is launching at the beginning of November. Scotloads is the first digital music distribution site devoted entirely to promoting Scottish musicians. The download service promises to give independent artists of all genres the opportunity to sell their music worldwide.

The web-site www.scotloads.co.uk  is a joint venture between David Carus and local musician Chris Rasdale. They set the ball rolling earlier this year with the intention of helping independent Scottish acts to raise their profiles. Musicians can join the site for free and retain the rights on all their material.

Chris Rasdale commented, “The way people make, sell and listen to music has changed radically in the last few years. It’s fantastic that Independent Artists can really take advantage of this and gain exposure.”

Scotloads aims to make high quality local music as accessible as possible. Once registered, musicians can upload new material, artwork and text at any time. This makes it possible to record, mix and master tracks and be selling them the same evening!

Customers will be able to purchase a wide variety of music for only 79p a track. The music is encoded in mp3 format, making high quality music available directly in seconds. It is also fully compatible with all portable players on the market.

David Carus said, “Sometimes you watch a band and would love to buy their music if you only knew where to get it. Scotloads will enable you to do this. It’s always good to support your local Rock star!”

Scotloads is currently looking for musicians who think their music may be suitable for the site. Please contact chris@scotloads.co.uk  for further details.
