Festive treats on offer for everyone this Christmas at Horsecross
Festive treats on offer for everyone this Christmas at Horsecross
16 November 2005

Whether you are a fan of the madness and hilarity of panto or prefer to chill and unwind in more laid back surroundings; look forward to wild party nights out and like nothing better than seeing the best rock and pop gigs in town or opt for the very best in classical music with a pre-concert romantic meal for two, Perth's got just what you want for Christmas.

Get along to Perth Concert Hall and Theatre this Christmas as the Horsecross Santa sack is well and truly bursting with the best festive shows and party nights around.

One of Scotland’s national treasures Jimmy Chisholm will be making his Perth Theatre panto debut as “the dame” in Sleeping Beauty alongside Greg Powrie, Amanda Beveridge, Helen Logan, Stephen Clyde and Gail Watson. Whatever your age, you’re never too old for this honest-to-goodness magic tale of great adventure and the battle of good against evil with plenty of belly laughs to boot.  Sleeping Beauty begins Friday 9 September at Perth Theatre

The Singing Kettle’s Christmas Magic is a fantastic treat your little ones will love, complete with sing-along songs, real magic tricks and a visit from a very special guest in a red suit. Fri 23 and Sat 24 December at Perth Concert Hall.

Classical music fans will be delighted with our amazing Christmas concerts which includes Concerto Caledonia bringing Bach face-to-face with our very own Rabbie Burns on Sat 3 Dec. Later this day you can experience a romantic masterpiece with Padmore and Vignoles’ Winterreise .

If you would rather hear some Yuletide Classics then come along to Scottish Festival Orchestra’s performance on Wed 21 Dec at 7.30pm starring award-winning violinist Nicola Benedetti or soak up the Christmas spirit of Perth Amateur Operatic Society on Tue 6 and Wed 7 Dec.

If you fancy something a bit heavier, then maybe veteran rocker Bob Geldof is more your cup of tea. He’ll be performing instantly recognisable material from The Best of the Boomtown Rats as well as songs from his award-winning solo album Sex, Age and Death. You’ll like Monday 5 Dec if you like Bob.

There’s nothing better to heat you up on a winter evening than the masters of Latino beats and Celtic charm, Salsa Celtica, performing on Fri 16 Dec. Why not take advantage of the fine food and wine available at the Threshold Café with a sumptuous pre-concert meal? You can enjoy a three course meal for £18.50.

As well as having the best rock and pop gigs right on your doorstep, you may also be keen to find a place just to relax and put your feet up. Again, Horsecross has it covered!

Cosmic Sky is a touring show which will bring a specially built theatre to Perth Concert Hall’s foyer. Two shows will offer up a unique and blissful experience…find out how the world began or just soak up the cosmic sights and sounds surrounding you. It’s out of this world! Sat 26 Nov – Fri 30 Dec free entry.

Don’t forget Perth’s Hogmanay!
