HI~Arts received a Commendation in the Dynamic Place Awards held recently at the Adventure Centre, Ratho, near Edinburgh on November 24th 2005.
The Dynamic Place Awards are organised by Scottish Enterprise and supported by Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Communities Scotland, Scottish Natural Heritage, Economic Development Association (Scotland), the British Urban Regeneration Association, and Regeneration and Renewal magazine. Now in there fifth year, Dynamic Place awards recognize excellence in design and implementation of projects which enhance Scotland’s urban and rural environments, recognising the Country’s leading design, innovation and regeneration projects.
HI~Arts were short listed in the 'Connections' category of this year's Awards, which recognises connecting people to natural and cultural heritage, connecting businesses to markets and communities, attracting people and talent, and promoting place, people and businesses. The judges were impressed by all the projects put forward by HI~Arts, including the Screen Machine, the mobile cinema which brings the authentic cinema experience to the most remote communities across the region. thebooth, the state-of-the art online ticketing service, which stimulates cultural tourism and promotes cultural events and shows to a global market place. The Arts Journal, which receives up to 10,000 unique visitors a day and ArtsPlay which works at stimulating creativity in childcare.
7Stanes, a project to create seven world class mountainbike trails across the South of Scotland, won the Supreme Award of the evening, as well as collecting top honours in the 'Connections' category.
