New this year at Timespan in Helmsdale, Sutherland will be:

The Goldrush Tour – Scotland’s first GPS guided tour, take a short walk into history at the site of the 19C Goldrush with our new sound and visual computer guides

The Geology Garden – presenting our magnificent collection of large geological specimens in a new riverside area - extending our delightful herb garden and outdoor café area

Our Harbour – Past and Present – the latest community heritage and arts projects form a new exhibition, from the past glories of the herring fleet to the latest leisure development

New Art – the Gallery opens with the new work commissioned from respected artist Wendy McMurdo, a set of digitally created images working with children from Helmsdale primary school and capturing their relationship with the museum displays. The rest of the year features the best contemporary exhibitions by local, national and international artists

New gifts – the shop presents a new range of giftware, including our increasingly popular artist and maker ‘of the month’

New dishes – as well as the ever popular homemade soups try out our new menu, or drop in for fresh coffee and homemade cakes while browsing our selection of books
