Dougie MacLean's new album and 2 great concerts!
Dougie MacLean's new album and 2 great concerts!
13 January 2006

Dougie MacLean’s long awaited album of new songs is officially released to the shops on January 9th. “Inside the Thunder” has already been described as “..another Masterpiece with exquisitely crafted, lovely songs and fine production” and “brilliant both musically and visually” and it has been suggested that the first track Not Look Down is “…particularly meaningful at this time and should be released as a single!”

After a very successful 2005 Dougie is beginning the year with two very special concerts. Building on his achievements at last year's Celtic Connections, when he very successfully premiered his four-movement multimedia symphony Rural Image the second half of the shows will unveil this to the Glasgow audience once more in the Main Auditorium of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and introduce it to the Perthshire audience in MacLean’s first performance at the Perth Concert Hall – the stunning new venue only miles from his home!

GLASGOW ROYAL CONCERT HALL, Main Auditorium Sunday 15th January 2006

7.30pm. Tickets £18/£16

Box office Tel: 0141 353 8000 or online at www.celticconnections.com

The Glasgow concert will begin a newly commissioned shorter work Muir of Gormach, named after a stone circle lying off the beaten track in his beloved native Perthshire. Subtitled "A Pictish Story", the piece will be performed by the Dougie MacLean Band…unplugged! with Ali Fergusson (vocals and acoustic guitar), Alan Sutherland (accordion, harmonium), Jamie MacLean (drums and percussion), Ross Ainslie (whistle, mandocello, pipes) and Chris Agnew (vocals and acoustic bass), with Dougie himself leading from the front on vocals, acoustic guitar and fiddle. There will also be the chance to hear some songs of the new album and some of Dougie’s much loved older songs.

Both concerts will offer a full, rich and varied musical experience!
