MP3 revolution hits the Highlands
MP3 revolution hits the Highlands
06 February 2006

Local musicians are selling their music all over the world with a new Highland based internet site www.scotloads.co.uk After a hugely successful launch in December, over 40 local acts have already joined the MP3 revolution to sell their music on-line.

The web-site www.scotloads.co.uk is a joint venture between David Carus and local

musician Chris Rasdale. They set the ball rolling last year with the intention of

helping independent Scottish acts to raise their profiles. Musicians can join the site

for free and retain the rights on all their material.

Music fans have been flooding to the site in the last month to buy Scottish independent music for only 79p a track. The site caters for all tastes and some of the local names featured include Croft No.5, Claire Campbell, Brian Ó hEadhra, Robbie Dunsmore, Disciples of Panic Earth, Raar, The Rites, The Galipaygos and Vivien Scotson.

Edinburgh music promoter Tom Crawford commented,
“So many people are now downloading music from home. It’s great that local musicians can take advantage of this and reach a wider audience. I’ve had enquiries from people in Germany who have heard some of the bands on Scotloads“.

Chris Rasdale explained,
“All the featured musicians regularly update the information themselves. This allows fans to keep in touch with what’s happening all over Scotland’s vibrant music scene with gigs, events and band news. People can also listen to free samples of every track on the site!”

The catalogue is growing on a daily basis and many familiar Scottish acts are poised to join the Scotloads ranks shortly. The coming months will see showcase gigs springing up all over the country as well as abroad to highlight the wealth of musical talent in Scotland.

David Carus commented,
“Our mp3s are the highest quality on the market and will be with you in minutes. Our artists are completely independent and you can be confident that the majority of proceeds are going directly to them. It couldn’t be simpler, check out the site, buy a few tracks and support Scottish music!”
