Show Scotland 06 is a new creative events weekend celebrating Scotland’s museums and galleries.
Led by the Scottish Museums Council and held over the bank holiday weekend, 28 April to 1 May 2006, it will offer visitors from Scotland, the UK and overseas an exciting and innovative programme of events to capture the public’s imagination.
The Show Scotland 06 programme will include live performances, visitor-participation events, outdoor parties and even celebrity involvement – expect the unexpected in Scottish museums and galleries that weekend! Museums and galleries throughout Scotland have been invited to take part, which, judging by the response so far, promises to be a big weekend.
Show Scotland is a completely unique event in Scotland. It is inspired by museums and galleries cultural celebrations in New York and Amsterdam, where the ‘Museum Mile Festival’ and ‘n8’ bring in 50,000 and 30,000 visitors respectively.
Show Scotland is a Scottish Museums Council initiative supported by an Events Group with representation from the National Galleries of Scotland, the National Museums of Scotland, the Association of Independent Museums, City of Edinburgh Council, Glasgow City Council, Aberdeen City Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Hi-Arts.
