This Spring Scottish Opera is back on the road with a fully staged production of Puccini's tragic love story La Boheme.
La Boheme will tour to Stirling, Forfar, Oban, Ayr, Clydebank, Kelso, Kirkcaldy and Hamilton.
April 2006 will see Scottish Opera take to the road for the largest tour of the year, staging eight must-see performances of Puccini's romantic masterpiece, La bohème.
La bohème features a full set, costumes and a cast of seven singers, accompanied by an ensemble of sixteen musicians from the Orchestra of Scottish Opera. Scottish Opera's Head of Music, Derek Clark, will conduct what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music, theatre and song.
Soprano Sarah Redgwick appears as the tragic Mimì, with tenor Nicholas Ransley making his Scottish Opera debut as the poet, Rodolfo. Paul Carey Jones, who recently appeared in Essential Scottish Opera, returns to play Marcello. The cast also includes Giles Tomkins as Colline, Damian Thantrey as Schaunard, Richard Wiegold as Alcindoro/Benoit and Stephanie Corley as Musetta. Directed by Caroline Sharman and designed by Simon Higlett, La bohème will be a delight for opera lovers everywhere.
Scottish Opera's Head of Music, Derek Clark said: 'I am delighted to be conducting this eight date tour of La bohème as the opera really has something for everyone. It is an ideal introduction for those who are coming to an opera for the first time, as well as being a much-loved favourite for those who attend regularly. As the score is so familiar we tend to take it for granted, but La bohème contains some of Puccini's most inspired music and is guaranteed to provide a memorable and moving evening at the opera.'
