Amateur actors needed for high profile production
Amateur actors needed for high profile production
03 March 2006

Have you ever dreamt of being on the stage? This could be your big opportunity. TAG Theatre Company and the National Theatre of Scotland (NTS) are urgently looking for three keen amateur actors who would like to be involved in a ground-breaking production of The Crucible at the Universal Hall Arts Centre, Findhorn.

There are three male parts still to be filled as part of a community cast who will join nine-professional actors on stage for performances on 27-29 April 2006.

This is a fantastic opportunity for local people to get involved in a large-scale, high-profile production with TAG, one of Scotland’s oldest and most respected touring theatre companies; and NTS, the latest exciting addition to the Scottish theatre scene.

Whether an experienced amateur actor or simply an interested individual, the team would love to hear from any men aged 30 years or older. With a range of parts required there is plenty of scope for involvement. The community cast rehearse in Elgin on Thursdays (6pm – 9pm) with some occasional Sunday rehearsals.

The Crucible, hailed as a masterpiece of the twentieth century, is a gripping tale of mass hysteria and terrifying witch-hunts. It shows a small community descending into the darkest depths, as human compassion is lost and superstition, paranoia and malice reign.

Miller famously wrote The Crucible during the 1950s, whilst Senator McCarthy’s anti-communist hearings spread paranoia and mistrust throughout America. George Clooney’s Oscar nominated film Goodnight and Good Luck is currently bringing the McCarthy era to life, paralleling Miller’s classic tale. The Crucible is a powerful play that continues to speak to modern audiences.

If you would like to be involved or want more information, please contact Community Director Chris Lee on 07963 845 917 or email kiffmoon@tiscali.co.uk. Hopeful performers must be able to commit to the weekly rehearsals as well as a full production week starting on Monday 24 April 2006.
