16 March 2006
Highland 2007 today (Thursday March 16th) launched the Cross Community Fund for events celebrating Highland culture in 2007.
The Cross Community Fund will support individuals or organisations to stage events or manage projects that will occur in more than one area within The Highland Council boundary or that will attract participants from across the area.
This latest funding programme is targeted at existing and new events in the Highlands that will form part of the year long celebrations in 2007, assisting them to achieve their potential in line with the aims of Highland 2007.
Alison Magee, Chair of Highland 2007, said: “The introduction of the Cross Community Fund will enhance the support that is already available for event organisers who want to play a part in Scotland’s year of Highland culture. The fund will build on and add to the ongoing success of the Regional Events Programme and the Community Programme.
“The establishment of the Cross Community Fund also recognises how strong many community based events already are in the Highlands and how they are expanding throughout the area, this fund helps to support and ensure their continued growth.”
There will be one round of awards from the Cross Community Fund with a deadline of 30th June 2006 for applications.
