Taigh Chearsabhagh launches a new film club called Film Friday on Friday 28th & Saturday Matinee 29th April 2006 at Sgoil Lionacleit Theatre, Benbecula.
The aim is to provide screenings on DVD of films which don’t get here on the ScreenMachine. So if the best of indie films, arthouse, documentary, classics, short films and animations are your kind of thing, then you need to sign up for a forthcoming season starting on October 6th with screenings fortnightly on Friday evenings through till March 2007. For anybody interested there will be discussion sessions after the films.
Season memberships forms will be available at the screenings which will give a significant discount for the screenings. Members will also have the opportunity to suggest favourite films.
The Film Friday launch screening at 7.30 pm is The Constant Gardener (15, 2005) a hair-raising thriller with an unforgettable finale, starring Ralph Feinnes and Rachel Weisz, with supporting shorts from Scottish Screen.
Following the Film Friday screenings will be a season of U & PG rated Saturday Matinees from 2 – 4pm. The launch event on April 29th will feature The Magic Roundabout (U, 2005). In the Enchanted Village, The Magic Roundabout lies in ruin, encased in ice. It is the work of the chillingly evil sorcerer Zeebad, whose dastardly mission is to enslave the earth and freeze it over forever.
Short animations from Scottish Screen will start the programme at 2pm. Tickets available at the door are £5 for adults and £2.50 for under 16/concessions.
