After last week's early evening warm up show at The Station in Birmingham, Dave Sharp's Hard Folk tour is underway.
2006 is the year of Hard Folk. With events such as the BBC's Folk Britannia season raising awareness of the quality and real breadth of musicianship that lives under the banner of British folk, Dave Sharp is taking his quite unique variant of the genre direct to the general British public.
Steering clear of the mainstream club venues which are the realm of the NME kids and rave clubbers, the Hard Folk tour will bring Sharp to new audiences in the British local and to confirmed music lovers at summer festivals. Most shows are free entry (check
www.davesharp.org for details).
This is the most intensive period of touring Dave has undertaken for many years, very possibly since the demise of The Alarm in 1991, and we hope that fans old & new will take the opportunity to catch a show or two along the way. As those who have seen Dave play solo acoustic will know, no two shows are the same!
The tour kicks off in Doncaster on Wednesday April 5th and will run throughout 2006. Further shows are being added all the time and will be announced via this list. Shows confirmed at time of writing:
