Artists in Residence programme on Isle of Bute
Artists in Residence programme on Isle of Bute
10 April 2006

Applications are invited form contempary artists working in the following fields, visual arts, environmental arts, digital arts (film, video, photographic media). The residencies are situated in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. Working with the Step Up Project (a social inclusion project) and Bute Health Living Initiative we would expect the selected Artists to spend 50% of the residency developing their own work, influenced by the people and surroundings on Bute, and the remainder to be spent working with community groups/ partner organisations helping to promote art and the artist to the wider community.

Three residencies will run for four months periods until December 2007. We are flexible about the details of how the residency will run. We can offer a fixed fee of £7,000 for the residency with an additional budget for materials. There are budgets for accommodation and travel.

The selected artists will be supported by a Project Coordinator, who will liaise between the Step Up Project, the Artist, and the Community Groups. The residency aims to raise the profile of Arts and Artists on the Island, offering an opportunity to work in this unique Island setting.

The first of three residencies start in the Spring/Summer of 2006 and the programme will end Dec 2007.
