Resolis Community Arts close their 2005/2006 season with a concert by the very local lass Claire Campbell and her band on Saturday 22nd April, at the Resolis Memorial Hall. Claire is well known for her fiddle playing and teaching throughout the Highlands and as far afield as India, Kenya and Azerbaijan.
Claire was born and brought up at Resolis Mains within site of the Memorial Hall where she will be playing. This is a far cry from New York’s Lincoln Centre and Broadway where she has played in the past, but no less important to Claire who believes strongly in drawing inspiration from and acknowledging her roots. She has chosen the concert for the official launch of her new album, Sweet Scented Summer Evening, which features twelve new songs all penned, arranged, produced and performed by Claire. The album ranges over many styles and moods highlighting her skills as a multi-instrumentalist and her blossoming talent as a songwriter.
Claire will perform with her band, which numbered five at the last count, and a wide array of instruments including a glockenspiel!
A spokesperson for Resolis Community Arts said “We are delighted to close another successful season with this concert and the launch of Claire’s new album. We always try to make local connections and this is about as local as it gets. April 22nd promises to be a special evening and a celebration of home-bred talent. Claire has only recently returned from another visit to Azerbaijan where she has been teaching the fiddle to under-privileged children in towns and remote rural areas. A cause to which she is deeply committed.”
The concert starts at 8:00 pm, tickets at £7 (or £5 concession) can be reserved through David Gilbert (01381 610 204) or Kenny Taylor (01349 877 625).
