An exciting programme of weekend adventures in visual and performing arts is available this year at The Creative Retreat in Banff. Whether you have experience or not, these workshops are suitable for artists and non-artists seeking to refresh their arts practice - or find a new one. The weekends are geared to re-engage dormant creativity, as well as being a fun and relaxing break. Enjoy the beautiful Banffshire Coast for a weekend of good food, good company and creative exploration.
Singing, devising theatre, performance skills, drawing, painting, writing – are all being offered this year by our experienced artist/tutors.
Off The Page – a delve into devising: 5th to 7th May 2006 – learn how to devise performance work from scratch. Take that idea (for a monologue, poem, stand-up, dance), and find out how to build it to completion. With Niki McCretton, an experienced, multi-skilled performer, creator of numerous one-woman shows.
Find Your Voice: 12th to 14th May 2006 – a weekend to help you overcome your fear of singing and connect with the voice you didn’t know you had. Debra Salem takes you back to the beginning, starting with breath and sounds, to remove those bad habits and un-founded fears.
Creativity Through Theatre: 19th to 21st May 2006 – explore your creative artist as performer. This is not a conventional drama workshop, Morna Burdon will take you straight to the creative performance skills we all have, so you can discover your potential to tell your stories.
No Write or Wrong: 23rd to 25th June 2006 – do you censor your imagination and block yourself as writer? It’s all too common, but award winning playwrite, teacher and performer Peter Rumney will guide you through the ways of accessing the stories you want to tell.
Go Contemporary: 22nd to 24th September 2006, or 17th to 19th November 2006 – individual support for painters at any level of skill who want to further their own style. You’ll be led through a process of making drawings and painting that will challenge the way you work, in a supportive and experimental atmosphere.
