Presented by award winning writer and director Adrian Mead this class is suited to both beginners and writers with experience in other disciplines. It is a practical guide for writers new to TV on how to get their first break.
You may attend because you are curious to find out if you could write for your favourite show. You may wish to adapt your own novel, short story or poem for the screen. Or it may simply be the fact that you realise that TV drama is one of the most lucrative areas of employment open to writers. Whatever your reasons for attending, by the end of this one day class you will have learnt what most new writers spend two or three years struggling to find out.
Adrian states, "The class is aimed at demystifying the business of being a professional TV drama writer and answers the sort of questions I had when I started out, How do professionals come up with ideas? What should I send and who do I send it to? How much will they pay me? How can I give up my job to become a full time writer when I have a mortgage to pay? Do I have to live in London? How do I find the info I need and get to meet the people who can help me?
I was a 33 year old bouncer and a hairdresser with no training and no connections to the industry. Within two years I was writing for the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 and was being paid to develop a number of feature film scripts. I had formulated a very simple and highly effective strategy, one that can work for anyone. That is what I teach, tried, tested and proven. You will leave armed with the most up to date insider info about how to get your first break into TV Drama. Quite simply if I did it anyone can!"
A FREE 15 PAGE BOOKLET of the kind of tips that Adrian passes on during the class is now available by e-mail from Mead Kerr. This includes - Writing in your spare time? Learn why trying really hard is the worst thing you can do!
