Commedia Dell'Arte Laboratory
Commedia Dell'Arte Laboratory
05 May 2006

A Commedia Dell'Arte Laboratory  will be led by Giorgio Bongiovanni in Elgin from 26th June—8th July 2006.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The course is designed for actors intending to gain knowledge and practical experience of this craft and its techniques. After a brief theoretical approach to Commedia dell’Arte and how it developed over the centuries, participants will explore, in practice, the masks, the different characters and the typical elements of this kind of theatre. They will experiment with technical notions regarding the use of the mask and body expression within simple themes of improvisation. Working in small groups everyone will have the opportunity to study his/her chosen character interacting with others and interpreting a whole scene.
Elements studied will include:

Improvisation
Lazzi
Movement on stage
Use of the Commedia mask
Voice with the mask

Acceptance onto this course is at the discretion of the teacher, this selection depending on CV and experience of the stage.  It is also possible to attend the laboratory as silent observer.
