The weekend has been extended to a 4 day event with concerts ranging from an intimate unplugged concert in the Iron Age Crannog on Loch Tay (sold-out in hours!) to a concert in the atmospheric Castle Menzies (almost sold out) to evening concerts in stunning Pitlochry Festival Theatre. Along with Scotland's foremost singer-songwriter and composer Dougie MacLean and his talented band (Ali Ferguson, Ross Ainslie, Jamie MacLean, Alan Sutherland, Chris Agnew and Greg Lawson) featured artists so far include Cara Dillon (described as "young, Irish, gorgeous & blessed with a voice of unearthly beauty"-Sunday Herald) with her band, the Perthshire Ensemble, Session A9 and The Tannahill Weavers. Other surprise guests will be added closer to the festival date. Along with workshops, talks, spontaneous sessions and two afternoons of Open Mic. It's little wonder that enthusiasts from all over the world are already booking their flights and tickets!
MacLean's recent album 'Inside the Thunder' was released in February in North America by the same company responsible for the huge success of Eva Cassidy's beautiful music, and staggering numbers of his new album were moved at each concert. Ranked in the Top 50 on amazon.com and at No 1 in the Folk/Celtic section of CD Universe for weeks, MacLean's small team at Dunkeld Records has also been thrilled at the UK demand particularly online.
During the spring/summer Dougie MacLean will be performing solo or with his band at concerts and festivals including SHETLAND FOLK FESTIVAL, BURNS AN 'A THAT FESTIVAL, FORTROSE, DRUMNADROCHIT, TOBERMORY on the ISLE of MULL, SKAGEN FESTIVAL in Denmark, STAINSBY FESTIVAL & WARWICK FOLK FESTIVAL in England, FETE DE GENEVE (Geneva Festival) in Switzerland and the INNERLEITHEN MUSIC FESTIVAL and EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE in Scotland.
