10th Year Special for Inverness Day of Dance
10th Year Special for Inverness Day of Dance
22 May 2006

Set up in 1997 by the Inverness Area Arts Officer, as part of the Highland Council’s practical input to the Highland Festival, the Day of Dance quickly took on a momentum of its own and now runs under its own steam.

The day is, as always, an opportunity to try out something new and there are dance sessions for all ages, interests and levels. These include African Dance, Baby Rave, Breakdance, Capoiera, Cheerleading, Contemporary Dance, Disco, Fitness Pilates, Funky Street Dance, Indian Bollywood, Indian Classical, Music Theatre, Salsa, Rock n' Roll and Tango.

Special guests include the Bharatiya Ashram Indian Dancers from the Indian Institute of Culture and Education in Dundee, and Dudendance, who have recently returned to Aberdeenshire after a lengthy dance and film-making trip to Brazil and Argentina.

Participants can try up to four different dances, from a choice of fourteen, during the day. In addition there will be a film screening at lunch-time and a final showcase at the end of the afternoon.

The feed-back from previous days has been highly positive and this tenth anniversary Day of Dance promises to be as enjoyable and energetic, or relaxing, as ever.

Bookings for day passes may be made on-line www.thebooth.co.uk  also at Highland Council Services Points and Inverness Town House. Further information is available from 01463 724261 adrian.clark@highland.gov.uk
