BBC Radio 2 Folk awards winner Karine Polwart and her fine band play two Highland dates on the Scribbled In Chalk tour 2006. Following her appearance at Belladrum 2005, Medicine Music Belladrum Festival and Regular Music are teaming up to bring the rising star of Scottish Music back to the Highlands for gigs in Portree (Aros Centre 8th June) and Inverness (Hootanannys 9th June).
Claire Campbell will be supporting Karine at Hootananny on June 9th 2006.
Claire was born on a farm in the Highlands of Scotland, close to Inverness. She won a music scholarship at a young age which led her to giving solo fiddle performances at New York's Lincoln Center, as well as several stints on Broadway. She went on to study music at university, earning extra cash busking in Glasgow and playing in several bands, including a sly appearance on Belle and Sebastian's ‘Boy with the Arab Strap' album.
After graduating, Claire travelled, playing music in Ireland, Spain, Azerbaijan, India, the Maldives, the Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Kenya. Claire has returned to her roots and now lives in Inverness where she intends to progress and promote alongside the wealth of un-tapped local talent.
