The Màiri Mhòr Gaelic Song Fellowship from Highland Council is pleased to announce the forthcoming launch later this month of two new projects.
Last year Fiona produced a collection of Ross-shire Gaelic Songs and at the end of June she will launch the CD to accompany the book.
Produced by Andy Thorburn,the collection features both well known songs such as Mo Run Geal Og from Contin and lesser known gems such as the humorous ‘Am Bata Uaine’ from Achiltibuie.
As well as Fiona, the CD features Ross-shire based musicians including; Julie Fowlis, Andy Thorburn, Lauren MacCall, Eamon Doorley, Katie Mackenzie,Carol-Anne Mackay, Jim Gaitens, Alpin Stewart, Dingwall Primary School Gaelic Medium Classes and the Inverness Gaelic Choir.
Fiona has also been working with well known piper and Gaelic writer, Angus Macphee in the production of a brand new collection of songs based on old pipe tunes, both Ceòl Mòr and Ceòl Beag and this will also be launched later this month.
Entitled 'The Crunluath Collection', the book is accompanied by a CD demonstrating many of the songs, sung by Angus and Fiona.
