Children and families in the Inverness Area will have a choice of live family favourite shows in community centres over the coming weeks. These are presented by Education, Culture & Sport as part of the summer activities programme, which includes everything from American Football to Silk Painting, with over three hundred activity sessions on offer.
Tricky Ricky makes his annual visit to the area, performing his Decade of Magic Show at Cameron and Merkinch Community Centres (18/7), also at Kiltarlity Village Hall (19/7), where he will also present a Magic Hands of Mystery workshop. On a previous visit to Inverness one mum wrote "I just had to tell you how much my children -and myself -enjoyed your show. I have never seen them sit such a long-time - they were totally engrossed and loved every moment of your show."
Jabberwocky Theatre Co, a company with local connections, make their first visit to the area, from their base in Brechin, with their puppet theatre version of E. Nesbit’s “The White Cat”. This five star-rated show, set in the middle ages, takes a tale of wonder and surprise, of courageous trust and of transforming power of love, and combines a fascinating range of styles and skills, along with a striking set and medieval and specially composed music. Performances are at Culduthel Hall (24/7) Inverness and Phipps Hall, Beauly (25/7), with an additional workshop in puppetry at Hilton Community Centre (25/7)
Mr Boom (aka Andy Munro) returns on his annual trip from the moon to entertain earthlings of all ages in Culduthel Hall (25/7) and Raigmore (25/7) and Culloden Community Centres (1/8). There will be a special prize at each show for parents who themselves enjoyed Mr Boom’s lunar antics in their youth – provided they join in the pixie ring! Tickets for all these shows may be bought on the door.
