Arts groups are being invited to take part in Healthy Highland 2007, a week-long celebration of the Highlands as a healthy and vibrant place to live, with as many local groups as possible (work staffs, clubs, community centres, schools etc) organising healthy or health-related events.
Healthy Highland 2007 will take place between the 15th and 21st of January 2007 and will play an important part in launching the Highland Year of Culture, a special year of events relating to the six strands of Highland culture (arts, sport, heritage, environment, language and science) and being officially opened by Scotland’s First Minister, Jack McConnell!
With such media and public attention, Healthy Highland 2007 is already shaping up to be an exciting week. It will provide a fantastic opportunity to promote your group, find new members and show what it contributes to the Wellbeing of Highland.
So think creatively about the type of event your group could hold. The focus will be wider than physical health, to include the overall Wellbeing of Highland. Events could be: physical activities, such as sport taster sessions or yoga for workers; events related to lifestyle issues like healthy eating or smoking cessation; cultural activities such as historical walks, making healthy paintings or therapeutic music sessions. Small grants may be available to cover the cost of hall hire etc for such activities, so get thinking!
